It has come to light that an app called musical.ly is being used to groom children and contains adult material. Therefore, it is our duty to warn parents that this seemingly innocuous and fun application could pose a threat to the well-being and safety of your child. Musical.ly is a social network for sharing user-generated music videos where users can upload videos, remix others’ work or browse content created by other users. ‘Lip syncing’ is popular with its users. It is our recommendation that pupils do not use this application and it will not be available to use through our network. The terms and conditions are confusing, but it is intended for users over the age of 18.

There are current police and CEOP investigations into claims of grooming through this application so we are considering this to be a valid threat to our pupil. Please contact me if you require any further information or help in this matter.
