Acorn Nursery Class Open Afternoon – Tuesday 10th October at 2.00pm and Reception Open Morning – Wednesday 18th October at 9.30am

I am writing to inform you that Mr Eddie Murphy has been obliged to step down as Chair of Governors for our school.  As Mr Murphy is employed by the school he recognises that there is a conflict of interests in fulfilling both roles. Mr Murphy has also stepped down as a Foundation Governor.

I would like to join with other staff and governors in acknowledging Eddie’s significant contribution to the school during the last 10 years. In particular Eddie has been invaluable in guiding us through the potential pitfalls and blind alleyways of modern Health & Safety compliance. His plain speaking and calm approach is grounded in over 30 years’ experience in the Fire Service working at a very high level.  Mrs Clarke and I are very relieved that despite stepping down as a Governor he will continue to advise us informally in this area.

Following Wednesday’s Full Governing Body Meeting Felicity Staveley-Taylor, one of our Foundation Governors, has been elected as Chair of Governors for the remainder of this academic year. Felicity has been a Governor at the school for the last eight years, most recently as Vice Chair. Both her children attended the school.

Along with Pete Scarborough who has been re-elected as a Parent Governor, I’d also like to more formally welcome our other recently appointed Governors;

  • Clare Thomas – Foundation Governor (Ned – Fig Class & Helena – Tigger Class) and
  • Sarah Von Billerbeck – Parent Governor (Nicholas Tigger Class)

Tom Walker – Headteacher
